Resources for Employees

All faculty and staff members should understand the requirements and procedures regarding reporting sexual misconduct, as well as the resources available to support students. Sample syllabus language about your reporting requirements is also included on this page.

Faculty and staff should also be aware that there are campus and community resources in place to address incidents that impact them personally. Listed below are some of these resources.

Sexual Misconduct Policy and Reporting
The University of Illinois is committed to combating sexual misconduct. Faculty and staff members are required to report any instances of sexual misconduct to the University’s Title IX Office. In turn, an individual with the Title IX Office will provide information about rights and options, including accommodations, support services, the campus disciplinary process, and law enforcement options.

A list of the designated University employees who, as counselors, confidential advisors, and medical professionals, do not have this reporting responsibility and can maintain confidentiality, can be found here: wecare.illinois.edu/resources/students/#confidential.

Sexual Misconduct Policy and Reporting
The University of Illinois is committed to combating sexual misconduct. As such, you should know that faculty and staff members are required to report any instances of sexual misconduct—which also includes dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking—to the University’s Title IX Office. What this means is that as your instructor, I am required to report any incidents of sexual misconduct that are directly reported to me, or of which I am somehow made aware. When a report is received, an individual with the Title IX Office reaches out to provide information about rights and options, including accommodations, support services, the campus disciplinary process, and law enforcement options.

There is an exception to this reporting requirement about which you should be aware. A list of the designated University employees who, as counselors, confidential advisors, and medical professionals, do not have this reporting responsibility and can maintain confidentiality, can be found here: wecare.illinois.edu/resources/students/#confidential.

Faculty Staff Assistance Services provides confidential assistance to employees and their families who may be experiencing difficulties that impact their lives. They are a confidential resource, meaning that reports of sexual misconduct are kept completely confidential and not reported to the University unless the survivor has asked for this to happen. The Women’s Resources Center offers confidential advocacy and support related to sexual misconduct including (but not limited to) academic and employment needs, mental and physical health referrals, support with both the criminal and student discipline systems, and a weekly support group. All services are free of charge and available for persons of all gender identities. The Center has staff designated as confidential advisors, trained and dedicated to provide support and advocacy.

State Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The State Employee Assistance Program is available to employees who are eligible for the State of Illinois Employees Group Insurance Program (SEGIP). See SEGIP Health Insurance to see if you are eligible. If the employee participates in a State health plan, then EAP services are also available to their eligible dependents.

The State EAP is a confidential assessment and referral service that provides problem identification, counseling, and referral services. All EAP care managers are professional, licensed clinicians and experienced in providing support, understanding, and guidance for a broad range of needs.

Trained customer service representatives and EAP care managers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at (866) 659-3848 or TDD/TTY (800) 456-4006.

Rape Advocacy, Counseling, & Education Services (R.A.C.E.S.) has a twenty-four crisis hotline, medical and legal advocacy, counseling services, and public education and training. All services are free of charge and confidential.

Rosecrance
Crisis Hotline: (217) 359-4141

Rosecrance offers a 24-hour mental health crisis hotline and provides a range of prevention, intervention, and behavioral health treatment services for individuals and families.

Courage Connection
